Modestas Bukauskas gives injury update, asks fans to go easy on Khalil Rountree.
This is the hurt business and no one learned that better than Modestas Bukauskas on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas. During his fight with Khalil Rountree, Bukauskas was kicked in the knee in a way that immediately stopped the fight and saw Rountree with his hand raised.
But it wasn’t quite that simple, fans and even fellow fighters criticized Rountree for the kick labeling it as a dirty move that can end a fighters career. The only thing is, the kick is perfectly legal and many other things can end a fighters career. This is after all a fight.
That didn’t stop the MMA world from piling on the hate on Rountree who has already expressed his displeasure at the way fans and media have spoken to and about him following his previous losses.

But on Sunday, someone stepped up to defend the move and that was none other than Bukauskas who took the time to update the fans on his injury and to ask them to go easy on Rountree following the loss.
“Getting MRI when I get home,” Bukauskas wrote on social media. “Probably ligament damage … and yo please give my opponent some slack, that kick was all good, it was my job to defend and I didn’t. Let the man enjoy his victory.”
