Margot Robbie Perfectly Styles an Oversized Blazer

Fresh off of walking the 2023 Met Gala red carpet in a black ’90s Chanel gown, Margot Robbie emerged in New York City yesterday wearing a much more casual ensemble. Though, her version of dressed-down was still super sleek: The upcoming Barbie star opted for a modern look that was all about the massively oversized blazer. In fact, she showed how to perfectly style said statement piece for spring. The key takeaway? It’s all about nailing down the outfit’s proportions. 

Robbie chose a black, double-breasted tuxedo jacket with a deliberately roomy silhouette. The XXL fit is one we’ve seen trending on the recent fall 2023 runways, at shows such as Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, and Gucci. To keep with the relaxed feel of the blazer, she paired it with baggy rolled-up jeans, and grounded the overall shape with a pair of chunky Prada oxfords. Her sleek leather top-handle bag, also by Prada, also offset the jacket and gave it a bit of ladylike polish.  

If everything were oversized,  the look would lack structure—but by adding a hefty shoe and streamlined bag, it felt fresh. It could even work at a more low-key premiere. Though if it were for a Barbie screening, everything would need to be in bubblegum pink.
