Spices are an integral part of Indian cooking. Be it garam masala or haldi, they all play a significant role in enhancing the taste and overall flavour of food. You’ll often find these masalas stored in a traditional masala dabba or spice box in your kitchen. However, if you’re a novice cook, differentiating between these masalas can be quite challenging. While some of them are easy to identify, others are difficult to tell apart. Two such spices that look quite identical are jeera and saunf. Recently, a woman was unable to distinguish between these two spices and decided to message her boyfriend for help. Their chat conversation has left the internet in splits.

Twitter user @Anteryamiiii took to the micro-blogging platform to share a screenshot of their chat. In the chat, we can see him helping his girlfriend differentiate between jeera and saunf. The woman sent photos of both spices to her boyfriend and asked, “Jeera kaunsa hai (Which one is jeera)?” To this, her boyfriend helped her identify which one was jeera and said, “Yeh wala (This one).” When she thanked him, he made fun of her by sending laughing emojis. “Sorry mumma, main galat ladki ke sath fass gaya (Sorry mom, I fell for the wrong girl)” read the caption of the post. The Twitter post has received more than 73.3K views and 1.2K likes so far. Internet users were left in splits after reading the chat conversation between the man and his girlfriend. Many people found the chat cute and expressed that they’d been in a similar situation. One person wrote, “Itna toh mujhe bhi malum hai (I also know this much).”
“This chat is cute. Mere wale ne bhi ek bar kadhi ki recipe bheji thi (My boyfriend had also once sent a recipe of kadhi)” read a second comment.
A third person added, “Tumhari mummy ke anusar tumhara downfall chalu ho gaya hai (According to your mother, your downfall has started).”
“Kitna bhi try kar lo mummy ko nahi mana paoge (No matter how much you try, you will not be able to convince your mother)” added another.
