Manchester United ‘prepare a bid to pry Joao Felix from Chelsea’ with Blues not having a buy option

Manchester United will attempt to pry Joao Felix away from Chelsea when his loan deal ends this summer according to reports.

The 23-year-old made a loan move to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid in January in a deal that does not include a purchase option for Graham Potter’s side.

Despite this, the club are hopeful of signing the Portugal international once his loan deal expires, with former Blues star Frank Leboeuf suggesting the club could offload Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount to make way for Felix.

However, Felix’s bright performances in an otherwise struggling side have led to United boss Erik ten Hag monitoring his situation closely.

According to a report from Deportivo Mundo, Untied are hopeful of negotiating a ‘favorable deal’ with Atletico once Felix returns to his parent club at the end of the current campaign.

Despite their struggles in the Premier League, Felix is said to be enjoying his time with Chelsea, and could look to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

In an interview with the London is Blue podcast, the former Benfica star detailed his plans for the future. ‘For now I’m on loan at Chelsea, so I don’t know the future yet, but I’m here and I see that it’s a big club with a big project.

‘I know that Chelsea is a great European team, I feel it and I can see it.’

Felix joined Chelsea on a short-term loan deal in January, with the club paying Atletico a £9million fee for his services.

The Portuguese forward endured an unfortunate start to life in West London, receiving a red card and a three-match suspension on his Premier League debut as the Blues fell to defeat against Fulham.

However, goals in draws with West Ham and Everton have endeared Felix to Blues’ supporters, with his team-mates also hopeful that a permanent move can be secured.
