Manchester United ‘must pay £18m to sign Marcel Sabitzer permanently’ in the summer
Manchester United must ‘pay £18m to sign Marcel Sabitzer permanently’ in the summer… with Erik ten Hag eager to keep hold of the midfielder after a promising start to life at Old Trafford
- Manchester United completed the deadline day signing of Marcel Sabitzer
- They are interested in signing him permanently after his impressive start at Utd
- However, Bayern Munich are asking for a fee of €20million (£18m) for Sabitzer
Bayern Munich have told Manchester United how much it would cost to sign midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent deal, according to reports.
Sabitzer’s loan spell at United was confirmed on deadline day with the Red Devils moving quickly to secure a deal after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.
Sabitzer was handed his United debut sooner than expected after Casemiro was suspended for three games but the Austria international faired well against Crystal Palace and Leeds.
He came off the bench in United’s 2-1 win over Palace and thrived for the Red Devils against Leeds. Therefore, Erik ten Hag is interested in signing the 28-year-old on a permanent basis this summer.
According to Sports Bild, via The People’s Person, Bayern are asking for a fee of €20million (£18m) for Sabitzer but they will be opening to negotiating with United in the summer.

Julian Nagelsmann’s are said to be asking United for a fee of €20million (£18m) for Sabitzer
The report said that Bayern felt €20m was a ‘fair price’ considering they signed the midfielder from RB Leipzig for a reported €16m (£14m) in 2021.
The German giants are eager to make a profit on Sabitzer – who featured 54 times for Bayern before arriving at Old Trafford.
Sabitzer has also said he would be open to joining Manchester United on a permanent basis as he likes ‘the team, the club and the atmosphere’.
‘It’s a loan at the moment, that’s all I can say,’ said Sabitzer. ‘I like it here. I’m feeling very good here. I like the team, I like the club, the atmosphere in Old Trafford. We will see what happens in the summer.
‘It’s been a busy few days. I had to come in quick but I enjoy it. I like it so far. The team welcome me very well. It was a bit of a cold start but I had to step in quick because of the Casemiro suspension. I’m ready for that and happy playing.
‘You can feel it. From the first moment on, I felt very good in the team – good spirit, good goals, we’re a good team. It’s fun.
‘The manager talking to me a lot, what he’s expecting from me. I try to fulfil that. I’m feeling good with him and his tactics and I like it so far.’
Sabitzer was thrown straight in the deep end after arriving at Manchester United. He featured for the Red Devils in both of their Premier League fixtures against Leeds.
Speaking about his experience, Sabitzer said: ‘Leeds away, as United, it’s a big game. You have to win this game.
‘We were ready for that, the intensity was good, we were good in the game. We missed a bit on Wednesday so we wanted to do it better, we did that.
‘We knew before it would be two tough games. In the Premier League, you have a lot of transition, you have to keep focused until the end. We did that quite well, we gave them no chance.’
