Man who claimed Assam govt’s recruitment exam was fake, arrested

Victor Das who claimed that Assam government’s recruitment exam was faked was arrested. He was sent to seven days police custody after he was produced in a court on Saturday.

On social media, Victor Das claimed that money had been traded in connection with recruitment and irregularities in the Assam government’s most recent exam to fill 26,000 posts.

The police charged him for spreading rumours and was detained by the Guwahati police.

Das is engaged in providing coaching for Assam Direct Recruitment Exam (ADRE) at two locations in Maligaon and Rajgarh through an online education portal.

In a tweet, the Assam Police said, “Victor Das has been arrested for allegedly conspiring to create a rift among various sections of the society over the selection of government posts by spreading fake rumours.”

Victor wrote on Twitter, tagging state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, and Special DGP GP Singh, “Respected Sir, a huge lobby is running for the backdoor appointment of the recently held ADRE exams where people are demanding money from three lakhs to 8 lakhs depending on the post, and a few ex-MLA is involved.” Kindly help.”

Recently the mobile internet in Assam was shut down to conduct grade three exams of the Assam government. The exams are being conducted to fill nearly 30,000 posts for which over 1.4 million candidates have applied. The third one is on September 11.

Gauhati High Court rejected the petition challenging the Assam Government’s decision on suspension of mobile internet services during Grade III and IV recruitment examinations for various government posts.

Hearing a writ petition, Justice Suman Shyam maintained that the petitioner failed to make any prima facie case in the matter. “This Court is also of the view that the petitioner has failed to make out a case on facts in support of his prayer for interim relief. Therefore, the prayer for the interim order stands rejected,”the order stated.
