Man United ‘speak to Adrien Rabiot’s mother AGAIN’, with Erik ten Hag ‘still a big fan’

Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Adrien Rabiot’s mother for the second consecutive summer as they reignite their pursuit of the midfielder.

Rabiot’s future appears up in the air with Juventus supposedly offering him a new one-year deal to prevent him leaving as a free agent, while United and Atletico Madrid remain interested parties.

The player’s mother Veronique Rabiot acts as his agent and holds the key to any potential transfer for the 28-year-old who has won titles with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

United’s football director John Murtough flew to Turin for face-to-face talks with Veronique a year ago but returned empty-handed as the player’s high wage demands saw the club end their pursuit.

However, Erik ten Hag has remained a big fan of Rabiot and wants the club to restart negotiations in an attempt to complete a deal as quickly as possible, according to CaughtOffside.

The Red Devils have apparently held renewed talks with the midfielder’s mother Veronique Rabiot

Initial talks have apparently taken place and a decision on the midfielder’s future is expected in the next few days with Rabiot not sure of offers from around Europe.

Juventus previously accepted a £14million bid  from United for the French international last summer, but would lose out on any transfer fee if they are unable to convince Rabiot to sign a new deal.

An impressive season in Serie A concluded with the combative midfielder making 32 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.

United have endured a slow start to the summer transfer amid uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership takeover that continues to drag on.

Ten Hag wants to reinforce his squad that finished third in the Premier League last season and lift the Carabao Cup title, but miss out on further silverware after losing the FA Cup final to Man City.

Bringing in a new star striker remains the club’s priority, but there is also a need for new midfield personnel and Rabiot would represent a cut-price deal for a player with European pedigree.

Meanwhile, the 13-time Premier League champions appear focused on finding Dean Henderson a new club with the back-up goalkeeper not set for an Old Trafford return after apparently annoying Ten Hag.
