Bruno Fernandes had to command Manchester United team-mates to applaud their fans after a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle, revealing footage has shown.
Erik ten Hag’s side delivered a lifeless performance at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, barely laying a glove on the hosts.
Captain Fernandes and Co were hugely disappointing, only recording one shot on target against their Champions League-chasing rivals.
And after the game, it seemed like the players were keen to trudge off the pitch without acknowledging the travelling supporters.
But as forwards Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial stormed off down the tunnel, attacking midfielder Fernandes was seen waving his hands to order several flops to go over to the away end and clap the United contingent.

The video, taken by Sportsmail‘s Craig Hope, shows Bruno gesticulating angrily towards the away fans, with Facundo Pellistri turning around to obey him, with Rashford and Martial apparently unable to hear.
Defender Lisandro Martinez had slammed his hand into the dugout after being substituted off.
Red Devils team-mates Diogo Dalot and Antony were also spotted arguing on the pitch after the final whistle. Frustrated winger Antony, who had been taken off, seemed angry as he exchanged words with the Portuguese right back.
After the game, Ten Hag said: ‘I hate to say it but they were better today – especially their determination, passion and desire. They wanted to win more so they won.
‘We had our opportunities but then you have to go for goal with the determination they did. It wasn’t good enough. We allowed them too many chances. You have to be hungry and give everything every game.
‘Our attacking game wasn’t good enough. I don’t want to focus on one person. It was a team performance.’
Goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson secured a relatively routine 2-0 victory for the Magpies.
The result sees Eddie Howe’s men leapfrog United into third place.
