Luka Doncic caps historic 60-20-10 triple-double with iconic quote

Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic became the first player in NBA history with a 60-20-10 triple-double but his postgame quote may have been even better.

There actually might be nothing that Luka Doncic isn’t capable of. And his performance to guide the Mavericks to a 126-121 win over the Knicks in overtime on Tuesday night is proof of that. Not only did the superstar guard drop the first 60-point game of his career, but he did so while posting a triple-double, perhaps the best in NBA history.

In the win, which the Mavs earned after Doncic hit a game-tying shot with a second remaining in regulation to force OT, the 23-year-old star became the first player ever to post a 60-20-10 triple-double as he finished the night with 60 points (on 21-of-31 shooting!), 21 rebounds and 10 assists. And why not, he also added two steals and a block. Because sure.

Not only is he the first NBA player to ever post that stat-line, but he’s only the second player to ever have a 60-point triple-double in itself, joining James Harden, who accomplished the feat back in 2018. But what Harden didn’t have was the best postgame reaction to his feat imaginable. Luka, however, did.

Luka Doncic after 60-point triple-double: ‘I need a recovery beer.’

After doing something that quite literally no one else in NBA history had ever done before, Doncic wasn’t worried about his moment. Instead, he became even more legendary with the most relatable postgame quote for someone who just dominated for 53 minutes of action.

His first comments after the 60-21-10 performance? “I’m tired as hell,” Luka said. “I need a recovery beer.”

That might be the most well-earned beer in sports history.

Luka Doncic highlights from 60-point triple-double in Mavs win over Knicks

Despite him putting up ridiculous numbers (obviously) throughout the night, the game-tying shot to force overtime might’ve been the best moment of the night. Luka intentionally missed the free throw, collected a wild rebound and somehow had the wherewithal to nail a mid-air floater to tie things up with about one second remaining.

But that wasn’t the only highlight of the night. There were some crazy dimes, some wild made shots, and just a boatload of Luka magic.

And to think — this guy is still only 23 years old. This is special.
