LSG vs MI: Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians in an absolute nail-biter at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow by 5 runs on May 16. Defending a total of 177 on a red soil pitch in Lucknow, Krunal Pandya’s side managed to keep Rohit Sharma’s side at bay. The bowlers scripted the comeback for the home side in the latter half of their defence with Mohsin Khan leading the way. Earlier, LSG finished well as Marcus Stoinis’ 89-run knock powered the home side to 177. He started strong, then steadied a bit and then went all guns blazing in the death overs. Due to his fireworks, LSG collected 54 runs in the final 3 overs. He smoked Chris Jordan for 24 in the 18th over and then scored 15 each in the next two along with Nicholas Pooran.

With this win, LSG have snatched the third spot in the points table from MI. LSG have 15 points in 13 games, 1 more than Mumbai in the same number of games. Lucknow are tied on points with Chennai but have an inferior NRR. They have a chance to qualify in the top 2 too. Meanwhile, it is not the end of the road for Mumbai as they are still very much in the mix for the playoffs.
