This investigative drama is centered around the probe of an NRI, who dies right before his wedding. Speaking about including Rachel in the show, creator Sudip Sharma told Indianexpress that Rachel’s casting was all about ‘practicality’ because they didn’t want to hire a ‘white actor working in Mumbai’. He added that one of the reasons to cast Rachel was because she had done Lagaan and knew the ‘madness’ of working here. Praising her work in the west, Sharma added that Rachel is a great actor and casting her fit almost like a jigsaw puzzle.
Written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, ‘Lagaan’ featured Gracy Singh as the leading lady.
