LA Rams’ Odell Beckham Jnr suffers nasty knee injury after scoring first TD of Super Bowl LVI

Odell Beckham Jnr suffered a nasty knee injury in the first-half of Super Bowl LVI in a cruel blow to the Los Angeles Rams against the Cincinnati Bengals. 

Beckham, who moved to the LA from Cleveland this season, scored the first touchdown of the game from a pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford in the first quarter. 

Yet in the second quarter, Beckham dropped a pass after landing awkwardly on his left knee and immediately shouted out in pain, with concerned team-mates looking on.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said at half-time that Beckham’s injury did not look good, and he was unlikely to return. Indeed, he did not feature again on the pitch.

But Beckham was happy in the end, as the Rams won 23-20 as fellow wide receiver Cooper Kupp stole the show late on.  

The hometown team strolled to a 10-point lead in Inglewood after touchdowns by Beckham and Cooper Kupp. 

But the Bengals came back, with Tee Higgins scoring a touchdown either side of half-time as the underdogs took the initiative early in the third quarter.

Beckham watched on nervously from the side as the Rams came back to clinch a famous win

Yet with the game nip and tuck in the second half, Stafford led his offence down the field as he linked up consistently with Kupp. 

And Kupp, later named MVP, then caught the match-winning touchdown with less than a minute to go.

Beckham was visibly emotional watching on from the side during the second-half, yet he still was part of a winning side and earned his first Super Bowl ring.
