Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Merry Christmas’ streaming rights sold for over Rs 60 crore: Report | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

The first look poster of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Merry Christmas’ was recently unveiled, with the makers announcing a new release date. The film is in the buzz and the makers have landed a hefty digital rights deal.

‘Merry Christmas’ is being shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi. And according to Bollywood Hungama, streaming platform Netflix has bought the digital rights of the movie in both the languages for a total sum of Rs 60 crore. The satellite rights of ‘Merry Christmas’ are yet to be sold. ‘Merry Christmas’ also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan and Tinnu Anand.
‘Merry Christmas’ was previously slated for release on December 23, but recently it was announced that the movie has been pre-poned to December 15. With this new date, the film will clash with Karan Johar produced ‘Yoddha’, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Disha Patani. Expressing his displeasure over the clash, Karan Johar had shared a cryptic note which read, “Clashing on a date without the courtesy of a phone call is hopefully not the way forward for the studios and producers …. If we don’t stand united in these tough and challenging theatrical days then calling us a fraternity is futile…”
