A woman has revealed the importance of checking for lumps and bumps on your body after she found a tumour behind her husband’s ear while on holiday.

Katie Lolas, 36, known as Lady Lolas online, found the lump behind her husband Scott Grant’s ear during their time off in Singapore.

The school teacher, who rose to fame on Instagram for her enviable meal-prepping techniques told FEMAIL the lump looked ‘too large to be normal’.

‘I could clearly see it behind his ear and thought – this doesn’t look right,’ she said.

So she prompted him to head to the doctor to get it checked out – and her gut feeling was right.

‘After it was removed and sent off for a biopsy, we found out it as a benign tumor, but has a 100 per cent chance of coming back and a high change of turning into an aggressive cancer,’ she said.

Speaking to FEMAIL Katie said she has been with Scott for ten years and 'never noticed' the growth before

Speaking to FEMAIL Katie said she has been with Scott for ten years and ‘never noticed’ the growth before

‘You must take your health seriously. Please look after yourselves my friends, book in your relevant health checks today,’ she said.

In the post she urged people book in to get their skin, breast and bowel checked – and to book in for any delayed pap smears.

‘Book in to see a professional if you haven’t been feeling right or notice any unusual changes in your body. Feeling overly tired? Unusual pain somewhere? A lump has popped up? Get it checked,’ she said.

She told FEMAIL her husband would be heading in for a second surgery to get any remnants of the lump removed on Wednesday.

And Katie was right to be worried - doctors revealed the lump was a tumour with the potential to become cancerous

'It was very obvious to me while we were on holiday. I'm so grateful we went away and had time to relax and for me to notice it because otherwise when would I have time to inspect his ear area,' Katie said

The couple aren’t sure how long the lump has been there for.

‘He thinks he’s had it for years, but we’ve been together for 10 years and I had never seen it before,’ Katie explained.

The couple will have to get used to monitoring the area from now on – in case the growth comes back.

The post, which was made on Monday evening has been liked 1747 times at time of printing, but Katie says the impact has been strong.

She revealed she had been sent messages from followers claiming they had checked their body after seeing the post and ‘found lumps worth checking out’.

One new mum said the post prompted her to check her left breast, which had been hurting while she carried her baby, and she had found a lump.

‘I will definitely be heading to my GP and getting a breast screen,’ she said.
