“Just Indescribable”: Dhanush On Winning National Award On Same Stage Where Rajinikanth Received Dadasaheb Phalke Award

It’s a special day for actor-filmmaker Dhanush. He won his second Best Actor National Award at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan today. His father-in-law and superstar Rajinikanth also received his Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the same ceremony. They were accompanied by Rajinikanth’s wife Latha and his daughter Aishwarya, who is married to Dhanush. Sharing a photo of himself with his Thalaivar, Dhanush wrote: “To win a national award for best actor on the same stage where my Thalaivar was winning the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award was just indescribable” and added: “Thank you to the National award jury for bestowing me with this honour. Also Thank you to the press and media for your constant support.”

Almost an hour before Dhanush’s post, his wife Aishwarya shared a photo with her father and husband and showed how “proud” she is. “They are mine … and this is history #prouddaughter #proudwife,” read her caption. The first photo features Rajinikanth and Dhanush holding their respective prizes while the second one shows them happily posing with Aishwarya.

On his Twitter profile, Dhanush shared a photo of his award and dedicated it to his fans. “To my fans,” he wrote with heart icons.

Rajinikanth received his Dadasaheb Phalke Award from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan today. He dedicated to his old bus driver friend, late filmmaker K Balachander, who directed Rajinikanth’s first film Apoorva Raagangal, his brother Sathyanarayana Rao and his “directors, producers, theatre owners, technicians and fans.”

Dhanush received the Best Actor award for his performance in Asuran. He shared the award with Manoj Bajpayee, who won it for Bhonsle.
