Johnny Depp’s witness SHOCKS gallery with ’15 minutes of fame’ clap back at Amber Heard’s lawyer – Times of India

Morgan Tremaine, a former employee of entertainment website TMZ, took the witness stand to testify in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against Amber Heard.

Tremaine, who was a former field assignment manager with the news agency, testified that he dispatched photographers to get pictures of Amber Heard leaving a courtroom back in 2016, after receiving a ‘tip off’.

“She was going to stop and turn to the camera and display the bruise,” he said in court.

While Tremaine did not reveal the source of the tip, he did say that it came from a news producer, which meant that it would have been from a verified source.

Heard had testified that she was “shocked” to see photographers outside the court after a judge awarded her a restraining order against Depp.

He also testified in court about the claims that Heard’s team leaked the video to TMZ of Depp smashing up his kitchen. While Tremaine did not confirm it was Heard, he said that the video sent was shorter than the one shown to the jury. It was reported that the version TMZ received from an “anonymous” tip, the part where Heard was ‘sniggering at the camera’, was not there, Tremaine said.

While on the witness stand, Tremaine didn’t reveal the sources behind the tip offs, Twitterati think his expressions gave much away. Take a look at the tweet below:

But the big bombshell in court that had Twitter “shook” was when Tremaine took on Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft. When asked by Bredehoft if he was only on the stand to get his “15 minutes of fame”, he refuted the claim and said he stood “to gain nothing from this.”

Although the question was objected by Depp’s team, the Judge allowed him to reply and he shot back saying, “I’m putting myself in the target of TMZ, a very litigious organization. I could say the same thing as taking Amber Heard as a client. I find that to be purely logical.”

The camera footage showed Elaine Bredehoft clearly taken aback by the reply, while the Depp’s team struggled to hold back their laughter. The gallery, on the other hand, could not contain their honest reaction to the rebuttal. Videos and screenshots of the gallery’s shocked reactions flooded social media with many laughing out loud at the courtroom drama.

“Ladies and gentlemen the TMZ guy is a legend for ROASTING Elaine before signing off,” read a tweet.

Another said, “Elaine just got SERVED.”

“THE WOMAN WAS TOO STUNNED TO SPEAK,” said another while reacting to the viral video.

Meanwhile, TMZ had argued that Tremaine should not be forced to reveal information about a source who provided him with a video of Depp yelling at Heard and slamming cabinet doors, according to court documents. Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s lawyer, also objected to Tremaine’s testimony, claiming he should have been identified as a witness earlier in the case.

However, Depp’s lawyer, Ben Chew, pointed out that Tremaine had not been subpoenaed and would be testifying of his own free will.
