IPL 2022 | Rajasthan Royals script easy win over Lucknow Super Giants
The Brabourne Stadium has witnessed quite a few high-scoring fixtures in this edition of the Indian Premier League, and things were no different on Sunday as Rajasthan Royals put up 178 for six against Lucknow Super Giants in a must-win game.
That total proved sufficient for Royals as Super Giants, despite an aggressive 59 (39b, 5×4, 2×6) by Deepak Hooda, could manage only 154 for eight, handing the Rajasthan side a 24-run win.
Opting to bat first, Royals found themselves in a spot of bother as Avesh Khan cleaned up opener Jos Buttler for just two runs. But Yashasvi Jaiswal (41, 29b, 6×4, 1×6) and Sanju Samson (32, 24b, 6×4) added 64 runs for the second wicket.
Jaiswal tore apart Dushmantha Chameera, hitting three boundaries and a six in the sixth over.
Captain Sanju, too, hit a few fours before offering a catch to Hooda at the deep off Jason Holder.
After Sanju’s dismissal, Devdutt Padikkal (39, 18b, 5×4, 2×6) and Jaiswal motored along.
The team reached the 100-run mark in 11 overs, before a caught and bowled by Ayush Badoni saw Jaiswal walking back to the pavilion.
Then, Padikkal holed out to Krunal Pandya at deep-midwicket with a slog-sweep off Ravi Bishnoi.
A quickfire 17 off nine deliveries by Trent Boult in the fag in the end ensured that Royals put up a competitive total.
