IPL 2021: KKR survive late Delhi scare to enter final – The big match highlights | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) almost shot themselves in the foot, until Rahul Tripathi emerged as their saviour to keep Delhi Capitals (DC) at bay and take his team into the IPL 2021 final with a three-wicket victory., with one ball to spare.
Chasing 136 to win, the KKR middle-order fell like a pack of cards, allowing DC to take the game into the last over, when at one stage it looked Kolkata would canter home. As many as four KKR batsmen fell for ducks.

Delhi Capitals’ Innings
Prithvi Shaw’s wicket put the brakes on DC scoring: Delhi got off to a decent start, scoring eight runs an over in the Powerplay, but Varun Chakravarthy provided KKR the much-needed breakthrough in the fifth over. He had Shaw LBW for 18 off 12 balls. The DC scoreboard read 32/1 at that stage in 4.1 overs.

Disciplined KKR bowlers never allowed DC batsmen to score freely: DC promoted comeback man Marcus Stoinis to No. 3, but he was sent back by Shivam Mavi after scoring 18 off 23 balls. Delhi’s scoring rate further suffered when the dependable Shikhar Dhawan walked back for 36 off 39 balls. He was Chakravarthy’s second wicket in an impressive spell of 2/26.
Shreyas Iyer and Shimron Hetmyer took Delhi past the 130 mark: Thanks to Iyer (30* off 27 balls) and Hetmyer (17 off 10), DC managed 36 runs in the last three overs to take the score to 135/5 at the end of 20 overs.
