The 2023 MLB All-Star Game takes place on July 11 in Seattle, Wash. Here is how you can vote to send your favorite players to the Midsummer Classic.
The 2023 MLB season has reached June, which means that we are not only that much closer to the Aug. 1 trade deadline, but also to the MLB All-Star Game.
Last year, the top players in the American and National Leagues traveled to Los Angeles to take part in the All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium. The AL defeated the NL 3-2 and New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton took home the MVP award after hitting a two-run homer.
This year, the Midsummer Classic will take place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Wash., home of the Mariners. With the game over a month away, fans are probably wondering how they can send their favorite players to the game. Well, we have that answer for you.
How to vote for the MLB All-Star Game
To vote, you will need to go to MLB’s official website. There will be a ballot for you to fill out, in which you will select the position players for the American and National Leagues. You will select one position player per league, with the exception being outfielders, in which three players per league can be picked.
The first phase of MLB All-Star Game voting will end on Thursday, June 22 at noon ET. The top two vote-getters from each position (six for outfielders) in each league will be revealed at 6:00 p.m. ET that same day on MLB Network. The player who receives the most votes in each league automatically becomes a starter. That means the remaining players will have to go through the second phase of voting. Per MLB.com’s Brian Murphy, if the leading vote-getter is an outfielder, “only the next four outfield finalists will move on to Phase 2 to determine who starts at the two remaining spots.”
Voting in the second phase will begin on noon ET on Monday, June 26 and conclude on noon ET on Thursday, June 29. The full starting lineups will be revealed on ESPN at 7:00 pm. ET on June 29. For those curious, you can only vote once per 24 hours in the second phase.
What about pitchers and bench players? Well, they will be voted by the Commissioner’s office and through player ballots. Then, there will be another reveal show on Sunday, July 2 at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, where the full rosters will be announced. That’s right, three voting update shows to announce the full MLB All-Star Game rosters.
