Henrik Stenson is out as the European captain for next year’s Ryder Cup. Who else might join LIV Golf and forfeit their ability to play in the Ryder Cup?

This is getting messier by the minute. After Henrik Stenson decided to join LIV Golf, he forfeited his opportunity to captain the European Team in next year’s Ryder Cup which is slated to be played in Rome.

Stenson is just the latest in a long line of PGA professionals to have ditched the tour in favor of LIV Golf. The new league has been poaching some of golf’s top names left and right, and with the amount of money they’re throwing around, we’re likely to see more defectors in the future.

Even Open Championship-winner Cameron Smith is now rumored to be joining Greg Norman’s new tour. Smith, however, being Australian, would not be eligible to participate in next year’s Ryder Cup. But which golfers, European or American, may soon relinquish their ability to play in next year’s event?

1. Jason Kokrak will forfeit his chance at playing in the Ryder Cup by joining LIV Golf

Jason Kokrak might be most remembered for how he exited the Travelers Championship a couple of weeks ago. After blasting his second shot well over the green on the final hole, Kokrak walked off without recording a score and was disqualified.

Was this the last time we’ll see Kokrak in a PGA Tour event? Perhaps. But Kokrak is now among those teeing it up at next week’s LIV Golf Invitational at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.

Kokrak is currently ranked 26th in the Ryder Cup standings, but after solidifying a pact with Greg Norman and LIV, he can kiss any chance he had a next year’s event in Rome goodbye. Even if he only stood an outside chance of heading to just the USA team in Italy, he’s now thrown any chance that he had out of the window by officially joining LIV.
