Hema Malini recalls how her ‘guru ma’ predicted that Shah Rukh Khan will be big superstar when she gave him his first break | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan and his stardom knows no boundaries. The King Khan has been ruling the film industry for 3 decades now and with his last release Pathaan, he also proved that he is also the Badshah of box office. In a new interview, Hema Malini recalled the time when she signed Shah Rukh Khan for a project as a newcomer and how her ‘guru ma’ predicted that one day he will be a big superstar.
For the uninitiated, SRK had 4 releases in 1992. It was his first year in Bollywood. Dil Aashna Hai, which was produced and directed by Hema Malini, is said to be the first project that SRK shot for.
Talking about her first impression of Shah Rukh Khan, Hema told Lehren that he was very cute and sweet in the TV serial Fauji, which she used to watch. During that time, she was getting her film’s script ready and she wanted somebody new for a character in Dil Aashna Hai. She saw SRK and felt that this boy is looking nice and she wants to sign him.Hema’s sister got in touch with SRK. When he came over to meet them, he was also introduced to Dharmendra who loved him. And then her guru ma told Hema that she is about to encounter a huge star.
“I said, ‘Ma, I’m making a film’. And she only gave the name Dil Aashna Hai. She said, ‘You’re getting a very big hero’. I didn’t understand, I told her we have a new hero. She said, ‘No, no, no, you’re getting a very big hero’. And he became big, no? She can see over the years, what is going to happen,” Hema said.
The veteran actress also credited her guru ma for her success as she had also advised her to do a film like Baghban and marry Dharmendra even though the latter was already a married man with kids.
