- Aussie mum Katherine Wood felt constantly bloated after her second pregnancy
- She attempted to lose weight but nothing seemed to work
- Instead she opted to try the Health with Bec program but was ‘skeptical’
- She made low-carb meals and never felt restricted, as if she wasn’t dieting
An Aussie mother-of-two who constantly felt bloated and fatigued has dropped 17kg in eight months by following a ‘no-diet’ diet.
Katherine Wood, from Perth, tipped the scales at 88kg and spent years believing her body ‘was a failure’ after previously trying to lose weight – but nothing seemed to work.
The 33-year-old tried fasting, drinking smoothies, the 5:2 diet, cutting portion sizes, but couldn’t keep the cravings away.
‘I wasn’t enjoying the restricted eating, I couldn’t quit my chocolate addiction and the recipes weren’t inspiring!’ Kat said.
After opting to try the Health with Bec program she managed to work towards her weight loss goals and change her relationship with food for the better.
Aussie mum Kat spent years believing her body ‘was a failure’ because she tried ‘every diet’ but nothing ever seemed to work. After signing up to the Health with Bec program she managed to lose 17kg in eight months
‘I was nervous to try something new, something that I was quite skeptical about because I didn’t want to fail at yet another “thing” as I was already feeling very little self-worth,’ she said. To lose the weight, Kat swapped out ingredients to reduce her carbohydrate intake, making it seem like she wasn’t following a diet at all
‘I was nervous to try something new, something that I was quite skeptical about because I didn’t want to fail at yet another “thing” as I was already feeling very little self-worth,’ Kat said.
‘My biggest hurdle before joining was wrapping my head around the fact that it was a reduced carb plan – as I was brought up with homemade pastas, breads, rice and potatoes as staples.
‘I thought I’d never be able to reduce my carbs and still enjoy my food or stay full, but I was instantly blown away by how delicious, big and filling the meals were.’
To lose the weight, Kat swapped out ingredients to reduce her carbohydrate intake, making it seem like she wasn’t following a diet at all.
‘For instance I swap rice in curries to cauliflower rice and have Slendier edamame pasta instead of real pasta,’ she said.
After completing the 3 Week Body Reset program Kat noticed swift results and decided to join the Health with Bec Tribe – a community to keep the momentum going and help women reach their goals.
In addition to focusing on her nutrition she also worked out five times a week.
Kat said following the ‘no-diet’ diet ‘wasn’t boring’ and her view on food has altered drastically.
‘I eat to nourish my body instead of punishing it; I have also discovered that most of my pastime family favourites can be adapted to be more in line with a lower carb meal, which is awesome,’ she said.
‘I was eating more than I was prior, none of the meal prep felt overwhelming and at no point did I actually ‘feel’ like I was on a restrictive diet.’
She would cook meals in bulk and freeze the portion sizes for ‘nights when you don’t have time to cook’.

Today Kat is happier, has more energy than ever before and has dropped 20kg in total over 15 months.
‘I feel SO full of beans! I train five times a week and I feel strong! I have lost so much bloating around my abdomen and face and I am celebrating my body instead of shunning it’ she said.
‘I’m no longer bloated, my digestion is great, my cycle has calmed down, my sleep is better and the way I used to talk to myself had dramatically improved.’
Not only has her relationship with food changed, so too has her relationship with herself.
‘I have a much kinder inner voice and my self-worth has continued to get better!’ she said, and has ambitions to be a great role model for her children.
