‘Goodbye’ trailer : Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna bid farewell to Neena Gupta – Times of India

There’s been a lot of anticipation around ‘Goodbye’ ever since the film was announced. It had a lot to do with Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna coming together and the later making her Hindi debut. Moreover, the first look posters and a promotional video posted by Bachchan yesterday added more curiousity.

But the trailer of the film is out finally and it leaves us teary-eyed and with a smile both! The promo opens with Rashmika being informed about her mother’s (played by Neena Gupta) death. Later, we are then taken to the rituals of her funeral and if she would like to have a funeral like that. The film deals with a serious subject of the passing away of a loved one, yet, what’s interesting is that it deals with the situation with humour without coming across as disrespectful or frivolous.

The film deals with family bonding, and spending more time with family despite the chaos and fights which are a part and parcel of every household. Amitabh Bachchan looks in great form as always while Rashmika looks promising. The film also boasts of a great ensemble in the form of Gupta along with Pavail Gulati, Elli Avram, Sunil Grover, Sahil Mehta and Shivin Narang.

Somehow, in the early few seconds, Rashmika and Big B’s bonding reminds you of moments in ‘Piku’. Of course, the subject – the bond between children and parents – is also similar but the film has a lot more to offer and seems to bring in some new shades. Amit Trivedi has composed the film’s music which seems like another add-on to its appeal.

Written and directed by Vikas Bahl of ‘Queen’ fame, ‘Goodbye’ definitely is intriguing and the trailer makes you look forward to the film. It is set to release on October 7.
