Former NHL player Jimmy Hayes has passed away at age 31.

The cause of death is not known at this time.
The Boston native leaves behind his wife and two kids. Hayes’ brother, Kevin, plays for the Philadelphia Flyers. He is also Matthew and Brady Tkachuk’s cousin.
Hayes was drafted 60th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008 and played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils across seven NHL seasons, producing 109 points in 334 games. He last played professionally for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2018-19.
Hayes played three seasons between 2008 and 2011 for Boston College, winning the National Championship in 2010.
