A huge fan of Big B, Madhur grew up watching the superstar’s films in single screens and is also inspired by him. As he penned down he thoughts for Bachchan, Madhur wrote –

“It’s your special day and words can’t express how I feel about pouring my emotions out. As a person and as an actor, you have truly been par excellence. I can go on and on about each of the movies that you have done and how that entertained audiences. After all, watching you on the big screen in Don, Deewar, Naseeb, Laawaris and Amar Akbar Anthony is what dreams were made of during the 70s and the 80s with your towering presence.

Madhur Bhandarkar's heartfelt note

As a Khar/Bandra guy. I remember watching your countless films umpteen number of times as Gaiety, Galaxy, Neptune and New Talkies, the Mecca of Hindi cinema. Your performance gave middle class people a dream and hope to every Indian. As a young video cassette delivery boy in my teens, it was humbling to go home to home across people from all walk of life. I still remember how your movies like Muqaddar Ka Sikandar: Naseeb, Sharaabi, Aakhri Raasta, Shahenshah and many more made me ride my cycle around the town non-stop, especially on Saturday and Sunday when these movies used to be a sell out. Later, when I turned a filmmaker myself, it was humbling to watch you all over again and learn so much more with your performances in Mohabbatein, Baghban and Pink flawlessly.

Today, as you turn 80, wholesome wishes from me and my entire family from the bottom of our heart. We wish many more years of success and good health ahead. 11th October 2022 will forever be known as ‘The Bachchan Day’. I pray to Lord Siddhivinayak that you continue doing this forever, keep the same momentum & zeal going in your life and inspire millions of people across the globe.

Madhur was also spotted at the special screening of Amar Akbar Anthony at PVR, Juhu hosted by Film Heritage Foundation in Mumbai as an ode to Amitabh Bachchan.
