Big B’s father Harivanshrai Bachchan is well known writer and is popular for his groundbreaking work in Hindi poetry. He got married to Shyama in 1926 who died after ten years of marriage. Later, he married Teji Bachchan in 1941 and had two sons, Amitabh and Ajitabh.
Teji Bachchan
Amitabh’s mother Teji was a social activist who taught psychology before her marriage. She became a homemaker after her wedding, but had a keen interest in stage shows. She played lady Macbeth in Harivanshrai’s Hindi adaptation of Macbeth. She also had a cameo appearance in Kabhi Kabhie.

Shweta Bachchan Nanda
Amitabh and Jaya’s elder child Shweta Bachchan is a former model turned author and columnist. In 2018, she launched her own fashion label. In 1997, she married businessman Nikhil Nanda who is the son of Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Nanda. They have two kids – Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda.
Navya Naveli Nanda
Amitabh’s granddaughter Navya Naveli is a women’s rights advocate and an entrepreneur. She founded a non-profit initiative Project Naveli that supports gender equality in India and focusses on education, healthcare and financial independence. She is also the co-founder of Aara Health.
