Divya Dutta reveals she initially rejected Bhaag Milkha Bhaag because she had a huge crush on Farhan Akhtar | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Divya Dutta earned several accolades for her performance in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. But initially, she had rejected the film because she had a huge crush on Farhan Akhtar.
In the film, Divya played the role of Ishri Kaur, the elder sister of Milkha Singh, played by Farhan. The actress shared that she could not recognise Farhan when she arrived on the sets because Farhan looked and acted exactly like Milkha Singh.
Speaking to an entertainment portal, Divya said that she wasn’t too keen to play the role of Farhan’s sister in the film. She asked, “Why should I play his sister?” Then Rakeysh told her that she is an actress and she is a professional. But Divya was still reluctant to play the part.

Since Divya was the first and last choice of Rakeysh, the director somehow got her talking and convinced her to change her mind.
A few days ago, Divya had opened up about how she used to daydream of working with the legendary director Yash Chopra. She said that she was actually relaunched by Yash Chopra in Veer Zaara starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles. In the film, Divya portrayed the role of Shabbo, who was Zaara’s friend played by Preity Zinta.
Divya debuted in the film industry with Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna in 1994. Later she appeared in several hit films like Badlapur, Delhi-6, Stanley Ka Dabba, and Heroine, among others.
