Did you know Amitabh Bachchan almost wanted to beat up Ram Gopal Varma after watching ‘Bhoot’? Here’s why! | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Ram Gopal Varma’s horror film, ‘Bhoot‘ clocked 20 years on May 30. The film starred Urmila Matondkar and Ajay Devgn in lead roles.
In a recent interview with a news portal, RGV recalled that the film got great reception from the industry and the audience when it was released. He shared that even his mother would keep opening and closing the windows of her house because she was terrified after watching Bhoot and this reaction came after she was fully aware that her son had made the film.

The filmmaker also recalled Amitabh Bachchan’s reaction to the film and shared that Big B saw the film at a preview and told him that he almost felt like beating him up because all the while during the film he was hating himself thinking: Why the hell did he come to see this? According to Varma, that’s what a horror film does – it should be able to evoke emotion, whether fear or anything else.

Not many know that Abhishek Bachchan was supposed to do the film initially. However, things didn’t work out for some reason and then they approached Ajay Devgn for the same. The actor was reportedly on board after listening to a three-minute pitch.
‘Bhoot’ also starred Nana Patekar, Tanuja, Rekha, Seema Biswas, Victor Banerjee, Fardeen Khan and Barkha Madan.
