Did Nayanthara’s fairytale walk down the aisle have a ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ inspiration? – Times of India

Just hours after her wedding to her long-time love, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, photos of the married couple and glimpses from their fairytale wedding took the internet by storm. Whether it was fans going gaga over the ethereal beauty of the actress in her bridal look, or the happy pictures of the couple performing their wedding rituals, almost all social media platforms were flooded with photos from the big day.

The photos that caught our attention were of the gorgeous bride and her man walking down an aisle filled with water and rows of floral arrangements on either side. While most people seek wedding inspiration from fairytales, it seems that Nayanthara and Vignesh may have taken some inspiration from the romantic-comedy, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’.

The 2018 film won hearts for its gorgeous wedding scene that saw the bride walk the aisle that was made to resemble a humble paddy field. The scene is even regarded as one of the most visually stunning scenes on the big screen.

We did a little digging and an old throwback photo sees Nayanthara watching the rom-com with Vignesh, while on a flight to Los Angeles. The couple posed for a selfie as Henry Golding appeared shirtless on-screen.

The newlyweds took to their social media handles to share their first photo as a married couple and to raise a toast to new beginnings.

“On a scale of 10… She’s Nayan & am the One. With God’s grace, the universe, all the blessings of our parents & best of friends. Jus married #Nayanthara #WikkiNayan #wikkinayanwedding (sic)” Shivan captioned the photo which he shared on Twitter.

Nayanthara also posted the same picture on her handle with the caption, “To New Beginning.”

According to reports, the couple tied the knot in the afternoon at a five-star hotel in Mahabalipuram. The ceremony was attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, along with cinema personalities, including Mani Ratnam, Atlee, Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Earlier in the day, Shivan penned a heartfelt Instagram note for his wife-to-be ahead of the ceremony. “Today is June 9th and it’s Nayan’s thanking God, the universe, the Good will from all the lovely human beings who have crossed My life!! Every good soul, every good moment, every good coincidence, every good blessing, every day at shooting and every prayer that has made life this beautiful! I owe it all to the good manifestations & prayers! Now, It’s all dedicated to the love of my life! #Nayanthara! My #Thangamey! Excited to see u walking up the aisle in a few hours! (sic)” the director wrote alongside a picture with Nayanthara.

The pair reportedly dated for nearly seven years before tying the knot.

Nayanthara is set to make her Hindi film debut with Atlee’s ‘Jawan’ which will feature Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
