Dallas Cowboys are ‘trading for Indianapolis Colts cornerback Stephon Gilmore for a fifth-round pick’, with five-time Pro Bowler adding vet experience to Big D
The Dallas Cowboys have seemingly got themselves their first piece of the NFL offseason – and a crucial one at that.
Five-time Pro Bowler Stephon Gilmore will have a new home in Dallas, according to Adam Schefter.
The report states Dallas is giving up a fifth-round pick for the services of the 32-year-old.
Per Spotrac, the Colts will now save $9.92m in cap space and abolish $2m in dead cap money.
Dallas will pay the one-time Super Bowl champion on a one-year, $9.92 non-guaranteed deal. Though, ‘a restructure [is] likely forthcoming.’
Five-time Pro Bowler Stephon Gilmore will have a new home in Dallas, according to reports
In April 2022, he signed a two-year deal with the Colts worth $23million – $14m guaranteed.
Gilmore started his career in Buffalo before signing a free agent deal with New England in 2017.
He spent four seasons in New England before being traded to Carolina, where he played just eight games before joining Indianapolis.
Gilmore is also a two-time First-team All-Pro during his 2018 and 2019 in Foxborough.
The South Carolina native will join an already ferocious Dallas defense, alongside Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and fellow corner, Trevon Diggs.
