Dak Prescott brushes off performance vs. Titans as Cowboys QB ties lead league with 14 interceptions

Dak Prescott continued his worrying streak of interceptions on Thursday night, though the Cowboys quarterback brushed off his performance after a 27-13 Dallas win over the Titans.

Prescott threw two interceptions in the contest, bringing his season total to 14 and also tying him for the league lead with just-benched Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

The seventh-year Dallas player has now thrown a pick in six straight games, though one of them on Thursday was due to tight end Peyton Hendershot bobbling an accurate pass.

Nonetheless, Prescott made it clear he wouldn’t be dwelling on his turnovers moving forward.

‘To be able to play this position, you’ve gotta have a short-term memory,’ he told reporters after the game. 

‘Whether the interception you feel is your fault, not your fault, whether you throw it to the guy and lose out on points before half or not, you’ve gotta be able to turn the page and just move on.

‘That’s something that, honestly, I take pride in. Obviously, you’re not trying to have that adversity or cause that adversity, but good or bad, I’m on to the next play.’

Prescott’s other interception on the night was not one that could be blamed on someone else, as he threw to a double-covered Dalton Schultz and was undercut on the throw by Kevin Byard.

Prescott also lost a fumble in the game. 

Two touchdown passes to Schultz in the second half, however, capped off long drives and helped the Cowboys ultimately win the contest.

With the win, the Cowboys moved to 12-4 and remain mathematically alive to win the NFC East, though that would require the Eagles losing their last two contests.

Coach Mike McCarthy kept that in perspective as he assessed Prescott’s performance after the game. 

 ‘Unfortunately you go through ups and downs in this league, that’s the beauty of how competitive this league is,’ he said.

‘This is a game we needed to get and we got it done, so whether we don’t get any style points, that’s OK, we’re still at 12 wins.’
