Connor Bedard records 20-game point streak in back-to-back WHL seasons

Regina Pats star Connor Bedard is the first Western Hockey League player in a decade to record a 20-game point streak in back-to-back seasons.

Unsurprisingly, the 17-year-old is on a tear to start off his third junior hockey season. Prior to the Pats’ game on Thursday vs. the Winnipeg ICE, Bedard had already collected 43 points in 20 games.

He recorded his 44th point just 10 seconds into Thursday’s matchup, netting a goal past ICE goaltender Karter Prosofsky. His 45th point came in the form of an assist, a primary on Tanner Howe’s goal, with 3:21 to go in the first.

Bedard has failed to notch a point in only one Pats contest so far this season.

The last WHL player to record a 20-point game streak in consecutive seasons was Brendan Shinnimin back in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 with the Tri-City Americans.

Bedard is the uncontested projected first overall pick for the 2023 National Hockey League Draft. During the 2021-2022 season, he totalled 100 points (51 goals and 49 assists) in 62 appearances with the Pats.
