CM Basavaraj Bommai unveils 112-ft Adiyogi bust in Chikkaballapur

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday unveiled the 112-ft bust of Adiyogi at the sprawling Isha Foundation campus called Sadhguru Sannidhi at Chikkaballapura in the presence of Isha founder Sadhguru, Health Minister K Sudhakar and Education Minister BC Nagesh.

The unveiling was followed by Adiyogi Divya Darshanam, a 14-minute video imaging show mapped on the bust. The show will be on every evening, the Foundation said in a press release.

The bust is a replica of the one at the Isha Centre in Coimbatore, and the chief minister expressed happiness at the Adiyogi, the source of yoga according to Sadhguru, coming to Karnataka. “Adiyogi will inspire people for a very long time; I have been to Coimbatore too and if we just see Adiyogi for a few seconds, we realize a lot of things and experience deep states,” Bommai said.

The chief minister praised the spiritual leader for his work and described him as “sadaa-guru” (a guru, always) because he is unbounded by time. “His Sadhana, experience, and work are in a sense a Bhavya Darshan by itself”

Sadhguru, in his remarks, said, creating powerful spaces for transformation and transcendence was to cater to those who long to rise, and who intend to rise above the mundane and touch the magical aspect of life and its source, while expressing the need for consecrated spaces.

“It is unbelievable that within a few months, Adiyogi has been unveiled,” said minister Sudhakar, who hails from the district, after launching ‘Adiyogi – the Source of Yoga’ , a book in Kannada by Sadhguru.

The grand event in the evening, attended by tens of thousands of people from across the world, consisted of performances of Kamsale and Dollu Kunitha, Karnataka’s folk dance forms; Theyyam, a fire dance offered as worship by artists from Kerala, and performances by Isha Samskriti and Sounds of Isha.Earlier in the day, Sadhguru consecrated Yogeshwara Linga near Adiyogi, which the Foundation said was a manifestation of the five chakras in the human system. Sadhguru, tweeting about the consecration said, “#YogeshwarLinga is designed to bring sheer intensity, involvement, and inclusiveness that will lead to Ultimate Union.”

The Sadhguru Sannidhi, besides the Naga shrine, Adiyogi, and Yogeshawara Linga, will also house a Linga Bhairavi Temple, Navagraha Shrines, and two Theerthakunds or energized water bodies. It will house Isha Home School; Isha Samskirti, a school for traditional India art forms; and Isha Leadership Academy. Program spaces in the Sannidhi, similar to Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore, will allow individuals to take tangible steps toward their inner growth, the statement from the Isha Foundation said.

Sadhguru Sannidhi is a part of Sadhguru’s vision to build “spiritual infrastructure” across the world that will offer “one drop of spirituality” to all of Humanity. The space will foster spiritual growth and development in individual human beings. It will offer a range of tools and technologies from the classical yogic sciences to bring harmony to mind, body, emotions and energies.
