‘Cirkus’ box office collection Day 3: Ranveer Singh starrer records dull opening weekend – Times of India

The Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Cirkus’ recorded a dull first weekend at the domestic box office. The Rohit Shetty directorial that arrived in theatres for the Christmas weekend, earned an estimated Rs 20.75 crore in three days.
After earning Rs 6.50 crore on Friday, the film that opened to poor reviews, saw a dip in collections on Saturday, earning an estimated Rs 6.25 crore. On Sunday, the film earned Rs 8 crore, however, the growth in collections was very moderate considering its overall low collections. While trade reports predicted a bigger boost in collections, the film saw an expected jump of around 40-50% on Sunday.

According to reports, the numbers are considered to be low on Sunday as it was a national holiday.

The film also faced stiff competition from the Hollywood release ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ which has beaten its collections across all sectors. The James Cameron film managed to achieve this feat, despite being in its second weekend.

Reports also state that the film’s first-day collections were the same as the collections of Ranveer-Rohit’s 2018 release ‘Simmba’. While this film is a comedy, ‘Simmba’ was an action film in Shetty’s cop universe that also comprises of Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’ franchise and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ franchise.
