Chiefs: Andy Reid’s comments on Josh Gordon will excite fans

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had nice things to say about wide receiver Josh Gordon in minicamp.

The Kansas City Chiefs offense is going to look different this upcoming season, and it is due to one huge absence in their passing attack. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins and immediately signed a four-year contract extension. Now it is up to everyone on the depth chart to step up and help keep up the production.

Head coach Andy Reid likes what he has seen from one pass-catcher in particular, and it is a player that has been on the roster last year. That wide receiver is Josh Gordon.

“He’s running better, he’s catching better and he’s working hard,” Reid said, h/t ProFootballTalk. “He’s a good kid and he’s smart, so that helps. That’s the way he’s approached this whole thing, and he’s getting reps.”

Gordon joined the Chiefs on a one-year deal in 2021 after he was reinstated by the NFL. Earlier in the year, he played for the Zappers of the Fan Controlled Football League.

In 12 games, Gordon caught five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets. In his career, Gordon recorded 252 receptions for 4,284 yards and 21 touchdowns through 75 games between the Chiefs, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks.

Even though the Chiefs did lose Hill this offseason, they did make some additions. They signed JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract and secured Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a three-year deal. In the draft, they used their second-round selection on Central Michigan wide receiver Skyy Moore. They then signed former Clemson star receiver Justyn Ross as an undrafted free agent.

Thus far this offseason, Reid has liked what he saw out of Gordon.
