Chelsea are looking to hijack Liverpool’s talks with PSG over a sensational loan move for superstar forward Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman has 12 months remaining on his contract at PSG, though he has informed the Ligue 1 champions that he has no intention of extending his stay at the club.
The London club are the latest to express interest in the star as they look to rebuild after a dismal 12th place finish in the 2022-23 Premier League campaign – according to the Daily Record.
Mbappe has been holding out for a dream move to Real Madrid but the club giants are unable to meet PSG’s steep asking price, which is said to be in excess of £200million.
They will instead opt to snap him up on a free transfer next summer.

Mbappe recently turned down an eye-watering £259m world record bid from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal to join them for one season.
In the meantime, PSG are desperate to utilise their prized possession and are open to the idea of a loan move if this will incur a fee.
According to The Daily Record, the 24-year-old is on a list of ‘loft’ players at PSG, alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Julian Draxler as they look to cash in on the star.
Despite the world record bid from Al-Hilal, Mbappe declined any contract discussions with the Saudi side. It’s believed a wage package with the club would have been worth an astonishing £603m-a-year.
Liverpool’s offer seems particularly appealing to Mbappe as it allows him a route out of the Parc des Princes, brings in cash for PSG and allows the star to complete a move to Madrid next year.
Mbappe has entertained talks with Liverpool in the past. In 2018, the Frenchman spoke about how ‘Liverpool is the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool’.
The star has always been very complimentary of Jurgen Klopp’s side, although with Chelsea in the runnings, this could kickstart a nail-biting race for the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner.

‘I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.’
The French star has scored an impressive 191 goals in over 200 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions.
Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final in December would add an incredible boost to Liverpool’s already star-studded squad with the likes of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.
However, with Chelsea keen to replace the number nine role at Stamford Bridge, the race for the French star would add a strong boost to either team.
