The Los Angeles Chargers had no chill with their 2023 schedule release video, but they really took their hardest shot at the Detroit Lions.
On Thursday, all 32 NFL teams unveiled their official schedules for the 2023 season. While finding out the exact order of which teams they will play and how long they will be on the road or at home, the release also allows each organization’s social media team to show off their creativity.
Last year, the Los Angeles Chargers created an anime-style video to announce when they will play their opponents, but not without taking savage shots at them. The Chargers decided “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” in terms of their style of schedule release.
Each team on the schedule was shown no mercy, but one that really stood out was what the Chargers had for their Week 10 opponents — the Detroit Lions. Once reaching the Lions, the Chargers posted a “gambling problem” message. That is in reference to the gambling scandal that saw the league suspend four Lions players.

Back in April, the NFL officially suspended five players across the league for violating their gambling policy. Wide receivers Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill were suspended six games for mobile betting on non-NFL games at the Lions’ facility. Safety C.J. Moore and wide receiver Quintez Cephus were suspended indefinitely by the league for betting on NFL games, but can apply for reinstatement after one year.
The Lions released both Moore and Cephus from their contracts at the time of the announcement of the suspension. This past Tuesday, the Lions waived Berryhill. Williams is the only player that the Lions kept out of those suspended for gambling.
If you look at that message the Chargers social team posted for the Lions, they also included “on behalf of Questionable Draft Picks (MI),” an obvious dig at the team’s strategy at this year’s NFL Draft.
There were plenty of shots taken by the Chargers in regards to their opponents. Whether it was Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel vaping, Dak Prescott getting thrown under the bus by the Dallas Cowboys content team, or using Chiefsaholic for the Kansas City Chiefs, no team was safe.
But the Lions may have gotten hit the hardest in terms of the Chargers’ trolling.
