Celtics’ Jaylen Brown: ‘My body hasn’t recovered the same’ since COVID-19

It was announced back on Oct. 8 that Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown tested positive for COVID-19, and the 25-year-old has produced mixed results in his first four appearances of the NBA season. Brown scored 46 points in the season-opener against the New York Knicks last week but was held to just 13 points in this past Wednesday’s 116-107 loss to the Washington Wizards.

According to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Brown admitted Friday he thinks he still isn’t fully recovered from his coronavirus bout.

“I’ve noticed in the last couple of days — what, four games for me now? — my body hasn’t recovered the same in a sense. I’m talking to our medical staff about that,” Brown explained. “Like, I feel great. And then it feels like instead of playing one game, it kind of feels like I played three. I’m used to my body responding and recovering a lot faster. I know I just turned 25, but this can’t be what it looks like on the other side.”

Brown added he’s no longer dealing with breathing issues he encountered earlier this month but still has some joint pain he links with the virus.

“As I continue to fight through it and continue to play more games and get the right stuff into my system, it will get better,” he commented. “Right now it has been inconsistent. I think that’s obvious. But my body hasn’t felt the same.”

The 2-3 Celtics play at the 4-1 Wizards on Saturday.
