Capgemini: Letter of intent is not offer: Capgemini to 2022 recruits – Times of India

BENGALURU: Capgemini has informed campus recruits of 2022 that they will be onboarded sometime in 2023. In a communication to candidates, the France-based IT services company said onboarding will be based on the availability of positions. Those hired had been approaching the company for clarity on onboarding.
It has asked candidates “to have patience”. It went on to state that the selected candidates were only given a letter of intent (LoI), which means the company is not obligated to honour it. “It (the letter to candidates who passed all requirements) states that the LoI should not be considered as a letter of offer,” the university relationsand talent hiring team said.
In response to queries on the subject, the company told TOI that all offers will be honoured but in a staggered manner. “Our onboarding process is aligned with client requirements and staggered over a period of time to factor in projectschedules, while also providing new joinees access to the right training. Our hiring and training teams constantly engage with the selected candidates during this time to ensure they refresh foundational skills and are equipped to cope with training once onboarded,” Capgemini said.
Most IT services firms in India are yet to onboard freshers they recruited last year. This is largely due to uncertainty in business in North America and Europe, where signs of recession have made clients of these service providers cautious about spending on IT. The recent quarterly results and forecasts announced by Accenture, TCS and Infosys are indicative of a significant slowdown.
