Buzz Aldrin, NASA astronaut and second human being to land on the Moon, has announced marriage with Dr Anca Faur on his 93rd birthday. Aldrin has married Dr Anca Faur in a “private ceremony” in Los Angeles.

Aldrin posted photos of his wedding on Twitter and wrote they were “as excited as eloping teenagers”.

“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot,” Aldrin tweeted.

“We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,” Aldrin tweeted.

In the photos shared by Aldrin on Twitter, the nonagenarian astronaut was dressed in a suit which had Air Force badge and medal. Dr Anca Faur was dressed in a sparkly gown, according to reports.

Buzz Aldrin was part of US’ epoch-making Apollo 11 lunar mission in 1969. Lunar module pilot Aldrin was there with Commander Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins.

Among the three astronauts, only Aldrin is alive.

Aldrin took retirement from NASA in July 1971, and went on to serve as commandant of Aerospace Research Pilot School. He retired from Air Force in 1972. Aldrin wrote nine books and created a think tank Human SpaceFlight Institute.

Dr Faur holds PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and works as executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC.
