Bucks’ Khris Middleton suffers MCL sprain in Game 2 loss to Bulls

Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton suffered an MCL sprain in his knee during Wednesday’s Game 2 loss to the Chicago Bulls, leaving his status for the remainder of the series up in the air.

Head coach Mike Budenholzer made the announcement after the game, adding that Middleton will have an MRI Thursday to determine the extent of the injury.

Middleton appeared to suffer the injury on a fall in the fourth quarter and left the game shortly after. Before leaving, he had 18 points and converted five shots from beyond the arc. The 30-year-old averaged 20.1 points for the third-straight year during the regular season.

“He’s always been positive and he knows the type of team that we are and how resilient we are,” Bucks guard Jrue Holiday said of Middleton. “We just want him to get back as quickly as possible and be healthy so he can come out here and help us win games.”

The Bucks also lost forward Bobby Portis to an eye injury during the game after he was hit in the face by the Bulls’ Tristan Thompson while the two players chased a rebound. Budenholzer said post-game that Portis “should be fine with some time.”

Game 3 in the series, which is now tied 1-1, is Friday night in Chicago.
