BTS shares video from Jin’s Military entrance ceremony; emotional ARMY says ‘See you soon’ – Times of India

Jin, the oldest member of the K-pop supergroup BTS, began his mandatory military service at a front-line South Korean boot camp Tuesday.

Besides fans gathering near the base to say goodbye to their idol, Jin, whose real name is Kim Seok-jin, also had his fellow band members RM, J-Hope, Jimin, Jung Kook, V and Suga join him at the camp.

The latest video shared on Bangtan TV documents Jin’s military entrance ceremony and his time with the BTS boys before he rushes off to join his squad. Jin, will serve 18 months in training after entering the Yeoncheon army post in the northern part of Gyeonggi province, South Korea.

Videos of the young star marching with other soldiers made their way online and went viral on fan handles. “See you soon,” a fan said and added a couple of crying emoticons.

Another said, “thank you for everything stay healthy may god bless you without any problem and health issues take care.”

“Will patiently wait for you #KimSeokjin Serve well and come back safe,” read another tweet.

BTS ARMY also couldn’t get over the cute banter the boys shared before they sent off Jin. “The way Kungkook touches and looks at Jin breaks my heart,” read a tweet.

Besides the clips, an old 2014 tweet by Jin has now gone viral. In the throwback post, the star asks his fans and BTS ARMY to not cry if he is not there.

The tweet read, “Don’t cry if I’m gone.”

As soon as the tweet resurfaced online, fans got emotional as they reshared the post.

The six other younger BTS members are to join the military in the coming years one after another, meaning that the world’s biggest boy band must take a hiatus, likely for a few years.

Jin had faced an impending enlistment because the law disallows most men from further delaying their military service after they turn 30. Exemptions or dodging duties are a highly sensitive issue in South Korea, where the draft forces young men to suspend their studies or professional careers.

Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup previously said it would be “desirable” for BTS members to fulfil their military duties to ensure fairness in the country’s military service. In August, Lee aid BTS members who are serving would likely be allowed to continue practising and to join other non-serving BTS members in overseas group tours.
