Brook Lopez and the Bucks agreed to two-year $48 million contract extension

Brook Lopez and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a two-year $48million contract extension, according to reports.

The Bucks were already able to retain All-Star Khris Middleton who agreed to a long-term extension with the team just as free agency opened.

Milwaukee will now be set to keep the front court trio of Lopez, Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo together for at least two more seasons while they compete for another championship.

Last season the 35-year-old Lopez averaged 15.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. It was his highest average points total since the 2016-17 season which was his final season with the Brooklyn Nets.

Back in January, Lopez told Michael Scotto of Hoop Hype: ‘I love it here. I’m so thankful for the opportunity the Bucks gave me five years ago to come here and be a part of something special.’

Lopez averaged 15.9 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting over 37% from beyond the arc

Khris Middleton and the Bucks also agreed to a three-year deal worth $102 million extension

‘We’ve had a great time. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.’

Lopez has become one of the few seven-footers in the league who has developed into a genuine shooting threat after averaging 53.1% from the field and 37.4% from 3-point range.

He also averaged 2.5 blocks per game as the anchor of the Bucks top-5 defense. 

The big man displayed impressive durability last year after he played in 78 games, following a season that saw him play only 13 times in 2021-22 due to a back injury.

Lopez is also coming off a contract that overtime has turned into one of the biggest bargains in the league, after he joined the team on a four-year $52 million deal in 2019.
