Braves injury updates on Kyle Wright, Michael Harris II is a mixed bag

The Atlanta Braves received injury updates on both Michael Harris II and Kyle Wright, who left Wednesday night’s win over the Miami Marlins.

It’s been an injury-riddled season for the Braves so far this year, though they’ve been winning in spite of it. Atlanta is first in the National League East at 21-10, and have a five-game advantage over the Marlins and New York Mets.

Atlanta has proven itself the class of the division, and one of the best teams in the NL year in and year out. This season should be no different, assuming injuries don’t get in the way. FanSided’s Scott Rogust discussed the series of unfortunate events for the Braves last night:

“After giving up a double to Yuli Gurriel, an RBI double by Luis Arraez and a single by Jesus Sanchez, Braves starting pitcher Kyle Wright was visited on the mound by manager Brian Snitker, pitching coach Rick Kranitz and a member of the Braves training staff. After a discussion, Wright was removed from the game.

The injury woes only continued in the top of the sixth inning, as outfielder Michael Harris II left the game with an apparent leg injury when running through first base. Harris was able to walk off the field under his own power. He was replaced in the lineup by Sam Hilliard.”

Braves: Latest on Kyle Wright, Michael Harris II

The good news is that Michael Harris II should be fine. He was removed from the game as a precaution, and will remain on the active roster. At worst, he’ll receive an off day or two, as he was just removed from the injured list.

Kyle Wright, however, is headed back to the injured list.

As to who will replace him in the rotation, that remains to be seen. Mike Soroka is a popular choice among fans, but he’s had some mixed results in the minor leagues so far as he tries to return to form. Dylan Dodd or Jared Shuster may get the call prior to Soroka.
