Boris Johnson has asked Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to ease travel restrictions so England players’ families can travel down under for the Ashes this winter.
Several England stars are wavering over the trip, as they may be away from their families for up to three months.
If Australia does not relax its Covid travel rules, some of the touring party would not see their families from the Twenty20 World Cup in the UAE next month until the end of the Ashes in mid-January.

Johnson intervened at his White House summit with Morrison and US President Joe Biden this week.
‘I raised it and (Morrison) said he was going to do his best with the families,’ said Johnson.
‘It’s very tough to be away from their families for so long over Christmas. He merely undertook to go away and come back with a solution.’
