Bob Arum has confirms Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk ARE in talks over money-spinning undisputed title fight in Saudi Arabia despite the Gypsy King’s denial

  • Fury took to Instagram to deny discussions were taking place for a Saudi bout
  • But, Arum has admitted to having talks with a representative of Skills Challenge

Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has confirmed negotiations are underway for an undisputed title fight with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia despite the Gypsy King shooting down claims on social media.

Fury took to Instagram last month to describe plans for a blockbuster bout with Usyk in the Middle East as ‘bull****’, despite the fact the Ukrainian’s team stated talks were underway.

However, Arum’s recent comments have given fans hope that a fight will take place and that the division will be unified for the first time since Lennox Lewis beat Evander Holyfield in 1999.

Speaking to Ringside Reporter, Arum said: ‘I have talked to a representative of Skills Challenge, who put on these boxing events in Saudi Arabia.’

‘We know these people, we worked for them in connection with the Jake Paul and Tommy Fury fight, so we know who the players are and we’ve had some very interesting talks with them.’

When asked whether the discussions were taking place with the Saudi representatives for a December bout, Arum said: ‘Yes, that is correct’.

Fury and Usyk held negotiations earlier this year for an undisputed fight, but they failed to reach an agreement and the Ukrainian’s team pulled out of talks due to Fury’s demands.

Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk placed the blame firmly at the door of the Gypsy King, accusing Fury of putting too many obstacles in the way to prevent the fight from happening.

However, it was believed talks reopened sooner after – with discussions over a potential double-header in the Middle East later this year taking place.

The tournament style card would see Fury and Usyk fight on the same card as Anthony Joshua and Wilder in Saudi Arabia.

But, Fury took to social media to shutdown claims he was entertaining talks over a double-header – writing: ‘I can confirm that these rumours are absolute BS!’ on Instagram.

Krassyuk seemed to imply Fury was lying, though, and that the Gypsy King was running scared as he wrote on his own Instagram: ‘He’s s****ing his pants again.’
