Bill Goldberg reportedly set to return to WWE ‘imminently’

According to Fightful Select, Goldberg is set to return to have a match at WWE’s premium live event, Elimination Chamber.

WWE’s next premium live event is Elimination Chamber, set to take place on Feb. 19 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. There are already huge championship matches set for the show, with Bobby Lashley defending his WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, A.J. Styles, Riddle and Austin Theory in the Elimination Chamber match, and Becky Lynch facing Hall of Famer Lita for the RAW Women’s Championship. But now, there is a reported huge return set to take place.

According to Fightful Select, Bill Goldberg is set to make his return to WWE “imminently” and that the plan is for him to have a match at Elimination Chamber. The plan, per Fightful, is for Goldberg to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.

Bill Goldberg reportedly set to return to WWE for Elimination Chamber

This planned match between Goldberg and Reigns was supposed to take place at WrestleMania 36 in 2020. Goldberg was the Universal Champion at the time and Reigns was set to challenge him. But when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Reigns removed himself from the match and was replaced by Braun Strowman, who defeated Goldberg for the title at WrestleMania. Reigns would not return to WWE television until SummerSlam later that year.

Reigns currently holds the title after winning it all the way back in Aug. 2020. On the Jan. 31 episode of Monday Night RAW, Reigns was challenged by Lesnar, the Men’s Royal Rumble winner, to a Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 38 in Arlington, Texas.

Goldberg last appeared at Crown Jewel in Oct. 2021, the company’s last show in Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Lashley in a No Holds Barred, Falls Count Anywhere match.

Elimination Chamber is set to take place on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 12:00 p.m. ET, live from the Jeddah Super Dome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
