Bengaluru woman jumps off Rapido bike after driver tries to grope her

A disturbing incident came to light in Bengaluru, where a woman jumped off a moving motorcycle after the driver tried to grope her.

The incident allegedly happened on April 21 but came to light today.

As per reports, the woman booked Rapido’s bike taxi to travel at about 11 p.m. to reach a friend’s place in Indiranagar on April 21.

To her utter shock, the driver allegedly took her phone on the pretext of checking her OTP. He then took a deviation from the route and headed towards Doddaballapur Road instead of Indiranagar. After being questioned by the woman, he started to speed.

She even tried to grope her.

Shocked by this, the woman jumped off the vehicle near BMS College in Nagenahalli, near Yelahanka. The security staff at the college gate rushed to her aid. The accused, after seeing this, escaped from the spot.

The girl had suffered injuries to her hands and legs. As she was wearing a helmet, she escaped without major injuries to her head and face. The victim then borrowed a mobile from them and informed her family and friends about the incident. The whole incident was captured on a CCTV camera.

The accused has been identified as 27-year-old Deepak Rao, a resident of Thindlu and a native of Andhra Pradesh. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.

As per preliminary investigations, the accused was inebriated during the incident.

In 2019, a bike taxi driver was arrested after he reportedly molested a 27-year-old woman from the US.
