The Karnataka capital, Bengaluru which witnessed waterlogging and traffic jams yesterday is expected to see thundershowers till Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted generally cloudy sky with spells of rain or thundershowers till Saturday i.e. till 24 June. A senor scientist with the IMD, Prasad on 20 June said that the city will witness moderate to heavy rainfall during the next five days, report by Deccan Herald has said.
The maximum temperature is expected to be around 27-28 degrees while the minimum temperature will likely be around 20 degrees Celsius.
Earlier on Tuesday, the city witnessed traffic jams due to waterlogging in several areas following heavy rains.
According to the traffic police, long traffic jams were experienced in Majestic, Shanti Nagar, Corporation Circle, Shivajinagar, Mysuru Road, KR Market, Magadi Road and Vijaya Nagar. As per the traffic police, areas like Outer Ring Road (ORR), Anil Kumble Circle and Queen Statue were also heavily waterlogged, the Bengaluru traffic police said. Moreover, the traffic towards the Kempegowda International Airport was also affected.
Slow-moving traffic was witnessed in Bhadrappa Layout towards Hebbal due to waterlogging after which the Bengaluru traffic police also shared an update saying that traffic movement in the area was restored.
In a post of Twitter, the police also had alerted commuters about the jams and blocked roads.
In a tweet, it wrote, “Le Meridian underpass has been closed due to waterlogging… slow moving traffic in Ecospace and Bellandur ring road, due to heavy rain. Advised drive safely. Slow moving traffic on Hebbal Flyover towards International Airport due to waterlogging.” Slow-moving traffic was also witnessed in Kogilu Cross due to waterlogging, the police said.
In another post, it wrote, “Bellandur down ramp running water due to rain cleared with the help of BBMP Mahadevapura RI team. It improves traffic movement from Bellandur to Ecospace junction.”
