‘Beast’ box office collection Day 3: Vijay starrer goes downhill as ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ continues its successful run – Times of India

‘Beast’ directed by Nelson Dilipkumar became the first Tamil film in recent times to cross the box office collection of Rs 100 crore in a short span of time. Starring Vijay and Pooja Hegde, the film was released on April 13 in theatres worldwide and it received mixed reviews. On the first day, the movie earned a box office collection of Rs. 65 crore and on April 14, the movie earned Rs. 32 crore, literally half of what it made on day 1 of its release.

Following that on April 15, ‘Beast’ made a box office collection of reportedly Rs. 30 crores making the film to earn a gross of Rs 127 crore in three days. According to reports, the film on day 1 was worshipped by fans but soon lost traction after the pan-Indian film ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ was released on April 14. Reports suggest that theatres are not running house full for ‘Beast’ and the tickets are available for matinee shows even at the last minute, whereas ‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ screens are full.

With the release of ‘KGF 2’, ‘Beast’ is facing a lazy run in theatres. It is also expected that ‘Beast’ will pick up its earnings over the weekend. Noting that the film was released mid-week on a Wednesday, the film might get a gross of Rs. 50 crore over Saturday and Sunday shows. However, though ‘Beast’ has been officially announced as a blockbuster hit, the film is running successfully in Tamil Nadu and ‘Beast’ Hindi has totally made an earning of Rs. 15 lakh only in three days.
